Ch-ch-ch-changes

Back again! Finally.

I've taken a very long hiatus due to life's wonderful obstacles. We need to get back to fashion!

I didn't end up selling out of my line but what I had left I donated and now I am starting fresh and new so my Etsy shop will be empty for a bit.

Things are changing for me and my label and it's all a big secret until more things are finalized.

More to come!

See you soon,
SJL

Pinkyotto Trial Day / Camera Fail

So, this past saturday I had a trial day at this shop called Pinkyotto. It's an expensive boutique that has only locations in New York and one in Boston on Newbury Street (that's where I was doing my trial day). I was really excited about because I was under the impression I would be trying for a visuals position, unfortunately I was mislead. That aside, after planning a fabulous outfit (which I decided to use to inaugurate my tripod) I was then told to change into a Pinkyotto piece from the back. That would have been exciting if everything wasn't all one size and I was actually a size 4 or under (I'm a size 10 and I ain't afraid to flaunt it.)

Anyways all in all the day was somewhat of a bust (besides the 50 bucks I made). It was a lot of standing around and trying to convince people to buy things they probably didn't really want or need. Or even useful for that matter. (Harsh, I know). A lot of people were from other countries which was cool, but difficult to converse with.

Well in the end I didn't end up taking the job, which was a sales position. I just didn't feel it was providing me with the right type of fashion fix. I suppose if I am going to work retail, I'd like to wear my own looks and rock my own style. Am I right?

That being said, here is the picture block I took of my outfit that day... this is also the reason why I need to go out and purchase a new camera.

Talk about horrible quality. Blurry mess.

Floral romper (that I made shorter) - Vintage
Ankh necklace - jewelry boutique in Harvard Square
Spiked collar - Spencer's
Rhinestone studded wedge heels - Nasty Gal

I promise I'll have better pictures in the future.

REVAMP - Facebook, Twitter, Etsy, Etc.

So, something just clicked in my head today and I did total revamp of all my information. I'm not sure what it was that made everything seem to not work for me, but I am doing some major changes.

SJL is now the ready-to-wear line under my main design label House of Levin. House of Levin is the haute-couture like label with more detailed pieces that focuses on a lot of hand sewing (it will also be my fashion blog). Usually when I create these one of a kind pieces I sell them but lately the funds haven't been on my side so I have been unable to create. SJL was created with the intent of selling to all the wonderfully stylish girls out there looking for unique and one of a kind punk/grunge devilish fashion. However, I haven't been having much selling being done, which isn't good! Especially when I am relying on the selling of those items to create new and better pieces for all my customers! SJL is still being sold on the normal Etsy Shop link and there is still a promo going with 20% off everything! There is one more week left of this sale then it will be unavailable, so get those items on sale now!

I am also hoping to begin my own fashion blogging already! Something I wished I had began much much sooner in my life. Which wil include my looks and DIY tips and such. I finally purchased a tripod and it is awaiting my trail run! (I've never even attempted as using actual photography equipment to take pictures of myself, I am so new to this, which is why I have been so hesitant in beginning in the first place). If any of you other lovely fashion bloggers would be willing to give me some quick tips, I would love love love to hear them!

As for my new links here they are:
Official Facebook page: www.facebook.com/houseoflevin
Official Twitter: www.twitter.com/houseoflevin

Gotta find that good tagline,
